Flowers Bloom

Medicine is an uphill climb on a path littered with thorns. Sometimes it seems I am alone and barefoot. But there are also flowers on this path. When a patient squeezes my hand and says thank you, a teenager confides their struggles and agrees to get help, the flowers bloom. I forget about the thorns.
