Skipped breakfast and went vaccine canvassing.

With hunger for community, I let my stomach sing.

Stethoscope, wool hat, knocking on doors,

“Prevention is better than illness and cures.”

Giving the jab meant hearing the stories

Of Hartford, of homelands, and of Trini kachoris.

The richness of their hearts immunized me,

A booster shot of humility.
